Silly season over.

For me, this season has two meanings. One refers to my work peak, which ended on 30 April (last Tuesday), and the 13th General Elections in Malaysia, which ended just yesterday.

Both make me heave a sigh of relief.

On one end, I've been working my ass off to finish as much as I can by that deadline, and I still have five-six tax returns without any information (no information means no go). I'm still not worried, for some reason, though I think a more appropriate (and cockier!) word to use is 'flippant'.

Just sent out my disclaimers today. Damn I love a good disclaimer.

On the political waterfront, I'm glad it's all over, because now people will stop giving me one-sided arguments in hopes that I would vote for their party. I don't need people yelling in my face, saying stuff like, "the time of change is at hand", and, "think of the children!"

[Well, something to that effect.]

I'm not a fence-sitter, so I don't need to attend ceramahs to listen to politicians harp on issues that they think will get my vote. Ruling or opposing, it's a one-sided verbal slugfest at these things, and I for one feel that it's a waste of my time to stand in a field on a hot night, packed like the proverbial sardine, when I can get this all from YouTube in the comfort of my own home.

With a large fan right next to me.

I've been telling my mom how fascinating all this is, as I was too young for the 2004 one, and I was away (and also not old enough) for the 2008 elections. I never knew how interesting Malaysian politics could be, and given the current political landscape, these are now extremely interesting times indeed.

I actually stayed up for the live panel discussion last night as the election results from each seat kept rolling in.

Anyway, the die is cast, and the results are out. It may be for the best, and I think a lot of people would tell you that it's definitely for the worst; but I think come next Election, things will be far, far more interesting than ever.

On a lighter note, finally someone can remove all those campaign flags 'decorating' the sidewalk, which are actually safety hazards to motorists. I mean, the flags are at eye-level; you would think that the flags would be smacking into some poor motorcyclist's face when the wind blows.
