The rat's back!

Yes, he is! Umangi told me that he was about in the kitchen, this morning, and after he scurried off into the washing-machine-cum-bathroom area, they closed the door. But then later on, someone opened it (probably because they didn't know and needed to go), so right now, we don't know whether he's left the area, or is still within the vicinity.

I told my mom about this, and she said to check the washing machine thoroughly first, before dumping my laundry in.

Heck, I'm gonna do the hop-back the next time I pop the lid on the washing machine!

Myst.

I had an Auditing lecture at 8am this morning, so as groggy as I was, waking up at 8, I found that it was a bit blurry-looking outside. My first thought: "HAZE!1!"

Turns out it was a misty morning.

Luckily I wore three layers out (well, three and a half, if you count the singlet I was too lazy to take off), and as I was running across the highway (and panting like mad), I was spouting mist! Whee! Like on TV, when it's cold and people are wearing heavy trenchcoats and mist (I know 'mist' doesn't sound really right, but for the lack of a better word... someone enlighten me, please) comes out of people's mouth when they talk. And I was on the phone while walking back, and seriously, the cold was biting into my hand (the one holding the cell phone) so much that I had to switch hands every other minute and shove the colder one into my jacket pocket.

It was totally awesome, I must say. Cold as hell, but way awesome.

In other news, the Uni bookshop's having a sale, so I went to check out what books they had. They were selling a hardcover Terry Pratchett's Thud, but even after the 20% discount, it still costs $17, which, after conversion, equals RM50. Which is really too much for me. My mom's already kicking my ass for spending so much on Harry Potter 7.

Then I saw The Crime Code, by Michael Cordy, selling for $5. Summary looks interesting: Putting a stop to crime by genetically altering caught criminals so they don't become repeat offenders. As usual, there's always the person with the token ulterior motive. I read the back, and it states "Praise for The Messiah Code." So I thought, "Then I should be getting The Messiah Code instead," but there wasn't any around. Actually opening the book (to find out more about the author) led me to the fact that The Messiah Code was formerly known as The Miracle Strain. Which I've read. And which is a fantastic book that I love. Really thick, but good. So I bought it, since books like these retail back home for at least RM30. Cordy wrote another book called The Lucifer Code (Yes, I know, the Codes are glaringly obvious), which seems WAAYY more interesting, since it's about life and death, and the existence of heaven and hell (ya know, the usual), but they're not stocking it at all. Not even for $5. They also have The Venus Conspiracy, but as interesting as the summary may look (about manipulating human emotions using chemical drugs), there wasn't any comment about it in the back of The Crime Code (the ones that advertise Other Books By The Same Author and heap massive praise onto said books).

I have a Stephen King novel I've yet to finish (plodding rather slowly through Bag Of Bones, only fitting, since it's a REALLY slow ghost story), but I've finally finished Clive Barker's The Great And Secret Show! Fantastic book, now I've to find a cheap copy of Everville.

Cooking.

Yesterday I bought two packets of pasta elbows from Coles at $2.30 each, only to find out later on that Safeway was stocking them for $1.90 each. Anyway, as horrible as I am at cooking, I have to say that I found the secret ingredient that makes my cooking a little more tolerable:

Pepper.

Liberal amounts of it.

(I'd love to say salt, but it'll still be tasteless even if I upend whole bottle.)

I accidentally poured (yes, POURED!) a whole bunch of it in as I was mixing the elbows around with the eggs. So for my case, black does not mean burnt-and-blackened carcinogenic, cancerous crap, it just means pepper.

Instead of ONLY being tasteless, it's just hot now.

Random Little Britain-laden post.

So today, when ordering lunch, I told the girl that I'll have 'the beg-and-eh-kon roll, please.' And this wasn't the first time I was having the egg-and-bacon roll.

This month's Flasher competition is about picking a song, and writing a story based on said song. Story must not retell story in lyrics. I'm so screwed. And this month's prize is fantastic: $40 Borders book voucher. That totally trumps last month's $30 JB Hi-fi voucher, which I absolutely, did not win.

I am SO addicted to Little Britain right now, having found videos of all three seasons (and specials! Except for the Comic Relief Does Little Britain Live ones) posted up on YouTube. For the unitiated, it's a two-man skit show depicting the lives of Britons, albeit in very derogatory ways, making it a very bad pick for UK tourism videos. That's why it's so hilarious. Think of it as Goodness Gracious Me with only two white dudes.

There're a lot of gems from the narrator (who spouts nonsense most of the time), but my favourite has to be the one in Little Britain Abroad, bringing in the Daffyd Thomas skit, where the guy (played by Matt Lucas) wears really tight acrylic shorts and tops and always claims that he's the only gay in his village. Only this time, they're on this gay-friendly Greek island:

"In Mykonos, it's opening night for Myfanwy's Bar. Look at those two. He's a gay, she's a lezzer, they're both morbidly obese, is this entertainment??"

And also in that episode, we have Bubbles Devere (another morbidly-obese woman) singing a rather old, but well-known song, that of which I've added to my iTunes.

Linkie for those who are a bit bored and can't think of anything else to watch: Little Britain Abroad, E1, 3/3. That bit of narration's around 02:55, and Bubbles' sequence begins at 05:20.

EDIT: Another fabulous one I just remembered:

"At number 10, the government is celebrating another election victory. I love an election; in fact, I'm having one right now."

Replace the 'l' in 'election' with an 'r'.

Still awake.

Well, it's 1am right now, and I'm still at the lappy, doing my assignment. I had an-hour-and-a-half nap in the afternoon, because after my morning lectures, I had this massive headache and couldn't even watch YouTube.

I spent the first 40 minutes dozing for what felt like 20, the next 10 minutes wiping drool off my hand, and then, the remainder of whatever minutes I have left actually sleeping. Which was good, really. Lovely nap, yesterday afternoon...

Bloody @#$% assignments!

So for the past week, two of my assignments have basically gone down the drain, with another two more ABOUT to, this coming Monday. Financial Modelling's pretty much half there already (according to my group mates, we just have to get together on Friday to discuss the kinks and finalise everything), but for Auditing.... That's another matter entirely. In a nutshell, we're supposed to pick a company, and study the financial and non-financial issues surrounding it so we can pick out the inherent risks (yeah, I don't know what the hell 'inherent risk' is, either). At least I picked out my company already, and not because I think that there's stuff to write, but because I'm cheeky. Why is that, you may ask? Well, because Wotif.com is listed on the ASX as WTF. Yes, that's right. W. T. F. I can't help it; the company name calls to me. And nowadays, I have a tendency to swear. A lot.

Besides finally choosing a company (that has an abbreviation to my liking and makes me go, "Teeheeheeheehee" whenever I think about it), I still don't know what we're supposed to write about. Oh dear. I really have to focus if I want to finish by Friday. Exams are coming; gotta start studying.

OMG new Sam Jack episode uploaded! I'm so gonna watchignore it!!

Tired, fatigued, eye-baggeddy...

As the title says, that's how I feel and pretty much, look. My groupmates and I have been wracking our brains on how to do our Treasury Management assignment (due on Monday) and up till now, we still don't know what figures to use for our calculations. We're meeting tomorrow (or is it today? Anyway, we're meeting Saturday) at 11am (again!) to try work things out. We have to finish it by then; we need at least three people for a discussion, and Queena and I only make two, because Joanne isn't free on Sunday and Cindy works weekends, if I'm not mistaken.

And if that's not enough, I've an Auditing assignment due on the 19th, and I haven't even BEGUN working on that yet. Normal as normal goes, I get everything done a week before the due date, and just tinker around with whatever points I have till I'm happy. Then I submit the whole thing on Friday and things'll be peachy and I can loaf around. Well, fat chance of THAT happening now. I'm so swamped with this silly Treasury Management crap that I don't even have the TIME to sneak a peek at that damn Auditing thing, much less do the bloody-ass research that the muffing paper requires. Luckily I managed to get 4.75/5 for my Auditing test this morning. Otherwise, I'd have to get up early tomorrowSaturday morning to do the silly thing till I get a good grade. First attempt = 3.25. Second = 3.5. *faints* This was my 7th or 8th full attempt (because they recycle the questions and most of my tries I just clicked on the answer for just ONE familiar-looking question to see whether I'm right or not. I learned this useful bit from Aaron. Teehee.).

Thank goodness Financial Modelling is a group assignment. This silly paper is also due on the 19th. We're practically finished with that now (luckily!), since we usually discuss things on the spot and Li Ling does the formatting and all that (Li Ling, you're a TOTAL LIFESAVER!! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! *MUAKS!*).

I am so tired right now. Screw changing into jammies; I'll just go to bed in my shorts and just two layers of clothes.

Blackout!

Just an hour ago, the whole block had a massive blackout (only the uni lights were still on). I was in my room, when suddenly, I was plunged into the DARKNESS!! Haha, I'm being melodramatic. I still have my laptop. Teehee. But it WAS quite dark, since the curtains were closed (I wanted to keep the cold out. I know it sounds weird, but my curtains are really, REALLY, thick. Insulation). And my room's facing the road, so if I didn't close the curtains, any other person walking by could see into my room. The only time I didn't close the curtains was during summer. It was so hot then that I couldn't give a rat's ass whether anyone was looking in. Not that anybody would, though. Heh heh.

Anyway, threw open the drapes, saw even the streetlights were out, went out of room, yakked with Zhang Fan and Liu Ting. Ian called the landlady, but there really wasn't much she could do. I was loafing about downstairs for quite a while, because the only other thing I could do was go to bed, and it was too cold to do that. And besides, I wasn't sleepy yet.

Finally, some workers came along and prodded at the powerline across the street from our place. Like, six of us were standing outside of the house watching them do it (one of the boys, I can't remember who, said that we might see sparks), and I was wearing shorts. Yes, you thought right. I really WAS asking for it.

And then there was LIGHT! So the whole bunch of us just ran in, and I quickly boiled water because I take a hot-water bottle to bed. The End.

Nostalgic~

I spent practically my whole afternoon watching Samurai Jack episodes on YouTube, AND, I discovered a new one! New only to me, I mean. (Yes, I know, how anti-climatic, bla bla, etc.). It was Jack versus Demongo, the Soul Collector. I thought I'd seen ALL the episodes, since last time I used to sit at home and watch Cartoon Network all day. Sigh. I miss that show. One of the best things on the telly.

I tried looking up Twelve Months (this fantastic English-language Japanese cartoon movie with a really sad opening song about this girl that's bullied by her evil relatives and then meets the spirits of the Twelve Months of the year who then help her and kick her relatives' asses) on YouTube a few days ago, but no one's posted it up.

*sadface*

On another note, YouTube has Heathcliff! Yay! Now, to load the thing at the right hours (because my connection's crazier than ever Ihopeit'snotmylaptoptouchwood), and to find the time to actually WATCH the vids.
